Accepting Jesus Christ Into My Life

Oftentimes, we find ourselves asking the question “what does being saved mean”? The simplest answer most people get is ‘saved from the judgment of God that is to come upon all people on earth who have willfully rejected the preaching of salvation and the acceptance of that salvation through faith in Jesus Christ’.
But there is more; much more. In Mark 1, we see John the Baptist’s call for the people to repent of their sins. The word, repent means “to turn in the opposite direction”; “to feel remorse for something wrongfully done.” So, having repented, the people “participate in this baptism was a recognition of the need for God’s forgiveness with a sense that one needed to live differently”.
We all possess a ‘fallen and sinful nature’, meaning that we are imperfect, and OUR will naturally rebel against the will of God the Creator. In Genesis 2:17, God the Creator said “but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will surely die.” This ‘death’ was first, a ‘spiritual’ separation from God as well as ‘physical’ death. Adam, having disobeyed God’s command, plunged mankind’s once pure and righteous nature, into a nature that is now depraved, evil, and rebellious towards God; it is a nature that desire to please itself (flesh and will), rather than God.
The Message of the Cross.
God’s love and desire to have a continued personal relationship with mankind was the reason Jesus Christ came into the world. God loved us so much (John 3:16), the Son of God came and gave His life that mankind might return back to God through faith and belief in Jesus Christ. In order for sinful man to have that renewed relationship with God, someone who was pure, both spiritually and physically; someone who did not possess a sinful nature had to act in behalf of mankind.
Jesus Christ came into this world to die for mankind, that He might save mankind from the judgment that is to come upon all the earth. But Jesus also came and died that He might help mankind find his/her way back to God through God’s gift of the Holy Spirit who would help mankind draw closer to his/her Creator.
Paul, speaking from Romans 10:9-13 says that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. …that all who calls on the name of Jesus will be saved; from what? From self-destruction through our willful rebellion (which is sin), against God; and from eternal separation from God at the Day of Judgment because we rejected the preaching of God’s Son Jesus Christ.
(To accept Jesus Christ as Savior)
All you have to do is pray this prayer: “Lord Jesus, I confess my sins to you, and I repent of my rebellion and sinful acts. Please Lord, come into my life, receive me as your child, that I might receive salvation, that I might be saved, and that I might receive the gift of eternal life, which you, Lord Jesus, offer to all who would come to you. God of heaven and earth, I pray this in Jesus name”.
If you’ve said this prayer, and you are sincere in your heart, you are now saved, and your salvation is sealed (you cannot lose it), by the receiving of God’s Holy Spirit, who will help you along in your Christian walk. What follows is that you now find a good wholesome church to attend, begin reading the Bible (starting with the New Testament), and begin to pray for God’s guidance, and for Christ to give you strength to resist evil, worldly and fleshly desires. You must now begin to grow as a new Christian by studying the Word of God, associating yourself with other Christians, and by attending church that you might be nourished in the Word.
